Announcing the Education Week Gregory M. Chronister
Annual award of up to $10,000 a year to support enterprise or investigative reporting on pre-K-12 education
BETHESDA, MD. – August 3, 2017 – Editorial Projects in Education, Inc. (EPE) is pleased to announce the inaugural Education Week Gregory M. Chronister Journalism Fellowship, to be awarded annually to an enterprising journalist in support of a reporting project that illuminates a significant issue in pre-K-12 education.
The fellowship, open to early-career, midcareer and veteran journalists, is intended to be completed while the recipient continues his or her regular employment. It will provide financial support of up to $10,000 for a deeply reported investigative or enterprise package or series of stories spotlighting a pre-K-12 topic. The package or series will be published during Education Week’s 2018-19 publishing cycle.
The online application deadline is November 15, 2017. The winning fellow will be announced the week of January 15, 2018.
The fellowship is meant to honor and reflect Gregory M. Chronister, who helped lead Education Week as executive editor for 11 years, and as managing editor, associate editor, and commentary editor for 21 years before that. Greg was known for his commitment to producing balanced, thorough, high-quality reporting and for his keen eye on journalistic detail and big-picture context.
