PublicSource.org, a nonprofit media outlet delivering public-service journalism in the Pittsburgh region, is looking for a reporter to cover policies and impact of local government with a keen focus on accountability.
This beat will be a combination of breaking news reporting and longform/enterprise reporting. We need a reporter who has a track record of telling complex stories of different lengths, formats and media and making these stories memorable. The ideal candidate is able to turn around high-quality copy under a tight deadline.
Data analysis skills are preferred; experience with FOIA requests is also highly sought after.
We are looking for a go-to person who has a knack for explaining things, willing and able to adapt to an ever-changing media landscape in a small nonprofit newsroom.
We offer a solid benefits package with paid time off, retirement contributions and a parental leave. Our newsroom has a collaborative work culture; from fact-checking to story ideas, we like people to pitch in, work hard and help each other out.
Please send your resume, cover letter with ideas and samples of your work to firstname.lastname@example.org by Sept. 2.
