Stories for a better Pittsburgh. is looking for an enterprise reporter with watchdog skills to join our team in delivering public-service journalism in the Pittsburgh region.

This reporter will cover a variety of issues, but they will focus on accountability and transparency of regional institutions, unpacking policies and initiatives to make them understandable for the average reader. This position will entail a combination of quick turnaround enterprise reporting, as well as longer pieces, in a variety of formats.

The ideal candidate:

  • Will come up with their own story ideas, and also be able to juggle ones assigned by editors.
  • Will be active on promoting their own stories on social media and engage with readers to answer additional questions.
  • Will coordinate well with editors, visual producers and other reporters.
  • Will be able to turn around high-quality copy under a tight deadline.
    Data analysis skills are preferred; experience with open records requests is also highly sought after.
