The Original Voice of Community Development
Shelterforce is recruiting freelance reporters to cover a wide range of topics related to community development, affordable housing, and neighborhood stabilization. Our assignments require a deeper dive than a typical news article, and generally run between 1,200 and 2,200 words. As such, previous reporting experience is required. Prior reporting on or experience with economic development, community development, housing, urban planning, or community organizing is a plus.
Writers will generally have 2 to 4 weeks from assignment to draft. Pay starts at $800 for first assignment.
