FairWarning, a nonprofit investigative news organization based in Southern California, is seeking a staff writer to join our dedicated, hard-working team. We’re looking for a person who shares our sense of mission, with strong news judgment, a deft writing touch and a demonstrated ability to handle detailed investigative and explanatory stories.
FairWarning, which has been in operation for ten years, focuses on public health, consumer, labor and environmental issues, and related topics of government and business accountability. We produce deeply reported stories that appear on our website and in print, online and broadcast editions of media outlets across the country.
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of journalism experience, including at least two years in a newsroom. A background in the issues we cover is a big plus, as is the ability to speak Spanish. Preference will go to candidates residing in Southern California or able to relocate here. Salary is competitive, but depends on experience.
Before applying, please take a careful look at our website to make sure you’re interested in the kind of work we do. Then, if you think you’re the one we’re looking for, please send a resume, short cover letter and three strong clips by March 1 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
