Health and Equity Editor

Website ConversationUS The Conversation U.S.

Academic rigor, journalistic flair

The Conversation has become a trusted resource for readers looking for evidence-based information on health and medicine, as well as for scholars who want to reach the general public with their research. We are looking for a journalist and editor with a minimum of 4-6 years of experience to work closely with our Senior Health and Medicine Editor. You will cover a range of topics – including the COVID-19 pandemic, public health, consumer health, and health policy – by commissioning and editing articles from scholars (with an emphasis on scholars of color) in those fields to help us increase our readership and impact on those important topics.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the main issues in health and medicine today, as well as experience working in a daily news environment as either a reporter/writer or editor.

The Conversation U.S. is an independent, nonprofit media organization that publishes daily news analysis and commentary written by academics, edited by journalists and aimed at the general public. Our editorial team works with scholars across the U.S. to help the general public make sense of important news and research. We take our work seriously, but we also offer a fun and flexible work culture with great benefits and lots of opportunities to shine.

We will consider candidates working remotely in locations across the U.S. We currently have offices in Boston and New York and can offer a hybrid of in-person and work-from-home for candidates in those cities.

The Conversation is deeply committed to inclusion and diversity. We encourage members of traditionally underrepresented groups – including those who are Black, Latinx, Asian American, Indigenous and LGBTQ, or armed services veterans – to apply to join our team.
