INN + ProPublica: Opportunities with the Local Reporting Network

ProPublica has just announced its 2026 Local Reporting Network opportunities and has set aside special dates to meet with INN members. The Local Reporter Network is a program that reimburses a newsroom for a reporter’s salary for a year so they can work on a single investigative project. ProPublica will be taking on 15 new partnerships in 2026.
There are two opportunities coming up this month:
Learn More about the Local Reporting Network: Please join for an hour-long conversation about the LRN with program head Sarah Blustain and an alumni of the program. We’ll get into the details of how it works and answer questions you may have. January 22, 2 p.m. ET
Sign-up for Individual Proposal Feedback: ProPublica editors are standing by to talk with you about your proposal. Here’s how it works: 1) Sign up for a 20-minute session. 2) In advance of that meeting, send along a summary of your idea (a couple paragraphs is fine, but no more than one page). 3) Meet with an editor to discuss how it might work for the LRN. Signup here (link coming soon) for a slot January 29, 1-3 p.m. ET.
Speaker: Sarah Blustain, Assistant Managing Editor at ProPublica
