INN + Yodel: Community calendars that drive audience (and revenue)

March 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Athens County’s Game-Changing Community Calendar: A Collaboration for Engagement and Growth

A comprehensive community calendar can drive readership and engagement and even offer revenue opportunities— if you can get event organizers to submit items to the calendar in the first place. Or you could use a scraper to pull information from existing calendars … but who has the time and expertise to do that?

Through a unique partnership with the Athens County Foundation and the Athens County Visitors Bureau, the Athens County Independent became the first newsroom in the country to host a calendar driven by Yodel, an innovative community technology provider that is transforming how communities find and promote local events.

The launch of the Yodel Community Calendar is a dynamic tool fostering community connection and growth, and offers a platform for advertising and sponsorship revenue growth. By launching a comprehensive, automated community calendar, the Independent fulfilled a longtime community desire for a centralized source of information, cemented partnerships with two well-respected local institutions and is better equipped to support its mission to empower community engagement.

Join Corinne Colbert of the Athens County Independent, Kerry Pigman of the Athens County Foundation, and Rachel Normansell of Yodel on at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, Mar. 27, for an interactive discussion about this successful initiative. Moderated by veteran journalist and Athens Independent Board Treasurer Eli Flournoy, this session will provide valuable insights on how you can implement a similar solution in your community.
