Facts Are Not Free. And Our Society Cannot Live Without Them.

The success of our country and our communities relies on an informed public. Yet local newsrooms are disappearing, mis-information and AI slop are surging, and the commercial models that once supported journalism are collapsing.

The Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) is helping build another future.

Since 2009, INN has built a national network of more than 500 vetted nonprofit newsrooms serving communities across North America. Together, they produce trusted, original, fact-based reporting that helps people understand their communities, holds powerful institutions accountable, and keeps important stories from going untold.

Why It Matters Now

When you invest in INN, you:

  • Protect independent journalism from political, corporate, and commercial influence.
  • Strengthen local news so communities have access to trusted information about the people, institutions, and decisions that shape their lives.
  • Strengthen civic life by helping those communities become more informed, connected, and engaged.
  • Support investigative journalism that uncovers wrongdoing, holds power accountable, and brings important truths to light.

Join the INNer Circle

Members of the INNer Circle are individuals deeply committed to the belief that trustworthy, independent journalism is an essential public good.

Your investment equips nonprofit newsrooms to grow their audiences, deepen community support, strengthen their operations, and remain resilient for the long haul. It also expands public access to reliable local and investigative reporting in communities across the country.

This is an investment in facts, accountability, strong communities, and trust.

We invite you to join the INNer Circle so independent journalism can endure.
