Mother Jones, Tucson Sentinel among fourth round INNovation Fund winners

The Institute for Nonprofit News named the latest 15 grantees of its INNovation Fund, which awards projects testing new ways to fund and distribute journalism. Grants of up to $35,000 each were awarded to The Marshall Project, VTDigger, Mother Jones, the Tucson Sentinel and New Mexico In-Depth, among others. The grants totaled $416,000 in this fourth and most recent round of the awards, funded in part by the Knight Foundation and the Democracy Fund. (January 25, 2016)

Sue Cross Named New INN CEO

Sue Cross will helm the Institute for Nonprofit News, the organization said on Monday. A former SVP for the Associated Press, Cross will begin work on Sept. 21 of the network of 100-plus nonprofit newsrooms. (September 21, 2015)

INN Refines Mission, Changes Name

The Investigative News Network has renamed itself the Insititute for Nonprofit News and refined its mission, reflecting its consulting work in strategic business and technology to nonprofit and independent news organizations.
