Better Together: Developing solutions for a fractured media ecosystem

Audiences and the distribution channels to reach them have fragmented. Mission-driven news organizations need new tools, intelligence and strategies to not only navigate this more complex landscape, but also understand what their reporting is accomplishing.
INN is hosting Better Together, a day-long workshop to grapple with the causes of media and audience fragmentation and build new tools and strategies for news to respond in an increasingly complex landscape.
On Oct. 10, we’ll bring together newsroom leaders, audience experts, technologists and other partners at CUNY’s Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism to chart the progress we’ve made so far and imagine what the collective efforts of more than 500 news organizations could achieve.
Who should attend?
- Newsroom leaders navigating digital transformation
- Audience strategists building community connections
- Technologists creating journalism tools
- Researchers studying media innovation
What you’ll leave with
- Early access to INN’s newest audience and story-sharing tools — Be among the first to tap into resources designed to expand reach and strengthen engagement.
- Practical ideas for tracking your journalism’s ripple effects — Explore ways newsrooms are learning from their audiences and spotting signs of impact in the real world.
- A circle of collaborators who care as much as you do — Connect with the most hands-on, audience-focused folks across the INN Network and keep building with them long after the event.
This isn’t just another conference. It’s a working session where your insights directly shape the infrastructure that will support nonprofit journalism for years to come.
Travel stipends of up to $500 are now available for members who want to attend. Apply by Sept. 26 via the Membersuite portal (follow the link or go to the Products tab).
