The U.S. Department of Justice recently released a first-of-its-kind report stating best practices for police-press interactions at protests. While the report cautions that legal protections do not depend on journalists having a credential, it emphasizes that carrying a press badge helps law enforcement identify members of the news media during chaotic demonstrations. The Institute for Nonprofit News and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press are launching a program to provide free access to photo IDs for journalists in INN newsrooms. Please register for this webinar to hear more about the credentialing program and the DOJ’s groundbreaking report.
