The Post-Platform Era of News

August 16 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

$75 – $100

The news industry faces mounting challenges in meeting its duty to inform the public as social media turns away from distributing the news and Americans increasingly avoid news.

Join INN on Aug. 16 at CUNY’s Craig Newmark School for Journalism in New York, for a full day of conversations with news leaders, social media experts and researchers on media and civic participation on the challenges ahead and the options for news organizations.

Space is limited to 70 attendees.

Lunch is included.

Speakers include:

  • Mia Sato, platforms and communities reporter, the Verge
  • Jamilah King, Editorial Director, Mother Jones
  • Arik Ligeti, director of audience, the Narwhal
  • Terry Parris Jr., Public Square Editor for Headways, New York Times
  • Benjamin Toff, author of “Avoiding the News: Reluctant Audiences for Journalism” and Assistant Professor of Journalism at University of Minnesota,
  • Diana Mutz, director of the Institute for the Study of Citizens and Politics at the University of Pennsylvania

For news leaders, funders, researchers and other stakeholders, it’s a chance to get a clear view of the new incentive structures driving sustainable news organizations and the challenges it presents to the press’ democratic duty to inform the public.
