July 13, 2022
INN Network nonprofit news leaders will gather in person for the first time since the pandemic, in conjunction with this year’s Online News Association Conference in Los Angeles from Sept. 21-24, 2022.
INN resumes its @ONA training sessions tailored to nonprofits with a special workshop on audience development techniques, plus an Innovation/Impact showcase lunch, the Nonprofit News Awards presentation (the “INNYs”) and the return of the INN@ONA reception for members and funders following the awards.
INN members can register here for the Sept. 21 INN program. And don’t miss ONA’s early bird registration discount.
Is the cost of travel daunting? This year, ONA is offering scholarships to “micro newsrooms” — newsrooms with 15 or fewer employees. Apply by this Friday, July 15, to receive a free conference registration. Also, INN has a number of travel scholarships for members who would otherwise be unable to attend ONA and the INN programming at ONA. You can check the INN registration form to apply.
The INN event will be held in an airy indoor/outdoor space in LA’s Arts District, a short distance from the hotel where the ONA conference is being held. It runs from lunch through early evening, and participants can register for separate events within the day. Members are welcome at the INN events even if they are not attending the general ONA sessions.
Activities include:
Audience building for nonprofit news organizations: This workshop focuses on engagement strategies that build audience loyalty and leverages the latest research on successful audience engagement techniques. The 90-minute workshop is led by Sam Cholke, an audience development specialist and INN’s manager of distribution and audience growth.
Innovation & Impact lunch: We’ll have lightning talks about some of the most exciting work this year by nonprofit newsrooms and a chance to network with each other and journalism funders.
Celebrating the best in nonprofit news coverage: INN members and friends are invited to gather in person or tune in online to the hybrid “INNYs” — the Nonprofit News Awards for 2022. We’ll be broadcasting live in LA.
The ever-popular INN@ONA gathering follows the awards, with food and drink from 5 p.m. to early evening.
“We’re thrilled to be able to get INN’s members back together for a day of networking and learning, capped off by a celebration of the best in nonprofit journalism from the past year,” said Jonathan Kealing, INN chief network officer.
If you have any questions, please email membership@inn.org and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
INN’s awards and programming at ONA is made possible by sponsors including Knight Foundation, the Google News Initiative, Microsoft, the Inasmuch Foundation, and the foundational support of our general funders.
