About Janet Coats
Janet Coats is managing director of the Consortium on Trust in Media and Technology at the University of Florida. The Consortium focuses on ways to connect academic research to practical application. She spent 25 years as a reporter and editor in newsrooms in Florida, Virginia, Kansas and Texas. During 10 years as a consultant, she worked with nonprofit newsrooms on editorial and sustainability strategy.
