Growth strategist Meta Stange joins the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) as the program manager for NewsMatch, the largest collaborative fundraising campaign building awareness and support for nonprofit journalism.
Before joining INN, Meta was the digital content and engagement manager for WDET, Detroit’s NPR Station, where she developed and implemented a comprehensive strategy for WDET’s digital platforms. She also provided digital insights for membership campaigns and developed marketing campaigns to build station audiences in the Detroit market. Prior to WDET, Meta worked in digital marketing, amplifying cause-marketing programs through paid, earned and owned media by developing buzz-worthy content and activations for a Fortune 500 company.
Meta will work closely with INN Chief of Growth Programs Courtney Hurtt, who held the position of NewsMatch program manager until her promotion in 2021.
“Meta has experience running national marketing campaigns, which is a valuable asset to NewsMatch and the news organizations it supports,” Hurtt said. “This, coupled with her background in audience growth within a nonprofit newsroom, will only strengthen the program’s capacity-building and public awareness components.”
Meta graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in English and Sociology. She lives in Detroit, Michigan, and enjoys reading, cooking and long walks with her dog, Salmon.
