Amplify News Project

The Amplify News Project is an effort to expand news distribution and collaboration across the American Midwest.

From a base within our Midwest member newsrooms, this project has three main goals:

Amplify also manages editorial collaborations for INN members, often in collaboration with nonmembers. Amplify collaborations so far have included:

The project is funded through the generous support from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, The Joyce Foundation, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, the Field Foundation and general support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

In addition to INN’s work to seed collaborations in the Midwest, INN also facilitates collaborations across the country among INN members and between members and other newsrooms that share many values with nonprofit newsrooms.

Collaborations that have launched include:

Support for INN’s collaborations outside of Chicago has come from the Walton Family Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Water Desk and general support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
